With a Garage Floor Mat, Your House is Worth More Money

by Angie Meza

You don't realize how much damage can be caused to your garage floor by your seemingly innocuous car, as it sits there quietly overnight. As the rubber starts to perish as your vehicle gets older, it will start to leak a variety of fluids and each has its own way of creating a stain, that is very difficult to remove. Before you know it, you have a serious mess on your hands.

In a professional auto mechanic shop, you will see they have treated the floor with a purpose made industrial stain. These surfaces repel oils and greases that would otherwise tend to set. An average homeowner does not have the luxury of being able to afford such a solution and a garage floor mat is by far the next best option.

Stains will build up over time and be very difficult to remove without a garage floor mat in place. The consistency of greases and automotive oils mean that they will find their way into the smallest crack and crevice in a concrete surface. Once they do so, you will need a toxic cleaner of a heavy grade to remove them. In addition, you will have to get down on your hands and knees and scrub and nobody wants to do this, yet if you don't, the position will get worse.

If you have been inactive in keeping up with the standard of cleaning in your home, you will certainly feel it in your pocketbook when it comes time to sell. While most people concentrate on the inside of the house, the garage floor is very important as well and the potential buyer would not be very impressed if he or she sees a badly stained floor in this room.

You can save permanent damage to your driveway as well as your garage if you install an absorbent garage floor mat out there. The drive-by value of your home can be seriously affected if damage is evident on your driveway, to say nothing of the bad mood that your neighbors will be in due to this eyesore! Whenever your car has to spend a night out of doors, make sure that the garage floor mat is there to check damage.

Because it is made of super absorbent polypropylene, a garage floor mat is guaranteed to absorb liquid that will leak from your vehicle. In addition, you won't be able to see the mess that is contained, as the product is finished in a charcoal gray color. It is also not flammable in its original state.

If you love grilling out on the weekend, consider placing a garage floor mat underneath your barbecue grill. This will save you having to rent a pressure washer to clean your deck at the end of the season and will be much more presentable for your visitors as well.

There are over 24 uses for a typical garage floor mat, due to the fact that it is highly absorbent. You can either buy them in standard sizes or you can have them custom made. Alternatively, you can purchase a 50 foot roll and cut to requirements. In this way, you can place one underneath your grill, your motorcycle, your golf cart, on the bed of your truck, or wherever else you might think.
